I think that if MNCs start replicating the systems currently in place in the West in retailing, construction, municipal cleaning etc -- it would lead to enormous job loss --since it is all automated. This would perhaps be similar to the loss of Manufacturing jobs in US in 70s or 80s - when their systems became automated or the loss of millions of agricultural jobs in 70s or 60s in US -when the agriculture here became automated.
Any views how we can adapt the Western models to suit our labor intensive economy. Even US had to adapt British technology in 1800s - when its own tech. was much inferior. The John Bull Train engine's adaptation in 1840s is one such case. Similarly, some technologies like deep tube wells tech. or deep coal mining tech. from British was not adopted by the US -since they did not need it. I saw this in the Smithsonian Museum of American Histiry in DC.

What should be adopted and what not - and what adapted?
