Tribal Dance extravaganza kicks off

  Imphal, July 12 : A three day cultural extravaganza on Tribal Dance Festival 2006 featuring twenty two ethnic community performing artistes began on a high notes at Iboyaima Shumang Leela theatre today. Though there is thirty three recognised tribal communities in the state, eleven failed to make it at the festival. 
  Arts and Culture minister P.Parijat speaking as chief guest on the occasion said, one of the unique advantages of this festival will be coming togetherness of various community tribesmen, who are scattered length and breadth of the state, to share and exchange thoughts either cultural aspect or day today experience. 
  Cultural festival is part of our lives and the need for preserving its glory lies through such performances, where one can study and anlaysed, on the changing aspect, if any, P.Parijat said. He also observed that the plus point of this festival is that, participation by genuine artistes tribesmen from the twenty two community whereas in other earlier performances, (though there may be difficulty/circumstances) most of the tribesmen are represented by meitei artistes. 
  It can be mentioned that Tribal Dance Festival 2006 features only tribesmen from hills excluding meitei artistes. Eight dance troupes will present traditional dances in the opening session of the evening.
