Wonder what C'da would have to say to SH's analyses of the lack of
'competitive spirit' among Assamese students preparing for and seeking jobs?

The fact that Sorkari jobs are good is because many can actually run a small
business/tutor or even another job on the side.
Many Medical college doctors (again government jobs) are not even seen at
the hospital doing their rounds - they are in their private clinics. Even
the health minister could not find them it seems when a made a surprise
visit.

The competitive spirit can only come about when there is a lot of
competition.
On my last visit to Guwahati (late last year), I did notice a couple of
things though.
I found many Assamese professionals (not Govt.) working very hard - 14-15
hours and even weekends. Also found students were far more competitive than
when we were students, many moons ago.
