Infosys chief to visit city

 GUWAHATI, July 29 – The Chairman and CMD of Infosys Technologies Limited, Narayana Murthy, will be in Guwahati on August 4 and 5 for a lecture-cum-interactive session with the students of the Assam Engineering College. This follows an invitation of the College and the city-based North East Foundation for Regional Sustainability, a collaborative network of industry, academy, government and civil society. 

The interactive session will be held at the college from 2-30 pm on August 4, which will be followed by the lecture, titled ‘Murthy’s Mantra,’ at the Pragjyoti Cultural Complex, Machkhowa, from 6 pm the same day. The sessions will feature Murthy on diverse issues relevant and critical to the North-East. 

Another event, a round table conference on ‘Developing Guwahati as an IT hub and investment potential in Assam,’ with State government officials and other stakeholders is scheduled for the next day at the Assam Administrative Staff College at 9-30 am. The event is being jointly organized by NEFRS and STPI, Guwahati. 

The interactive session with students has been organized as part of the MDC-initiative, the mission of which is to create an industry academia partnership for addressing the complex problems of the society through interdisciplinary research, entrepreneurial activities, exchange of expertise and using industry as the laboratory of engineering students.

It is expected that Murthy’s interaction will help create a new set of values among the students of the State. Assam Tribune 30th July 2006
