Today more than 51 million girls under 17 in developing countries are married – often to much older men. If this practice goes unchecked, 25,000 young girls will be married every day for the next 10 years – that’s 100 million girls in the next decade who have little control over their lives or their futures. These girls deserve better. Ask Congress to join us in supporting the International Child Marriage Prevention and Assistance Act.

Save the Children Responds to Middle East Crisis
Save the Children is moving quickly to respond to the immediate and urgent needs of children and families in the Middle East who have been displaced and affected by violence in the region. With decades of experience operating in the Middle East, we’re working in partnership with international agencies and local organizations to identify and meet the needs of children. Learn more about our ongoing response in Lebanon and around the Middle East.

Congress Funds Rural Literacy Programs for Children
Recognizing Save the Children's work helping America's children in need, the House and Senate Appropriations Committees have included $1.75 million for reading programs in rural communities. Save the Children works in isolated rural areas of persistent poverty where families face widespread illiteracy, sub-standard housing, under-funded school systems, and high unemployment and school drop-out rates. Learn more about Congress' support for these programs.

                          Knitters and Crocheters for Newborns
After Save the Children’s State of the World’s Mothers 2006 report highlighted low-cost practices that could save newborn lives — like warming their heads with a simple cap — Save the Children received calls and e-mails from Americans around the country wanting to organize their friends and family to knit and crochet caps for newborns in developing countries. As a result of their enthusiasm, Save the Children has partnered with the Warm Up America! Foundation to launch a new advocacy effort, Caps to the Capital.
