These figures are ballpark marks, just food for thought!

The GDP of the region is poor because, it has been bleeding since 1830s.
Take for example the oil, since 1889 till date NPV will be more than
hundreds of billions of dollars, also the lost opportunity cost of that
investment. Tea has been flowing out since 150 years, plus timber products
and coal. Had these amounts were invested back in the state, the people
would not have  been poor. Even today thousands of crores go out of teh
state/region for basic commodities like rice, fish, egg, potato, cereals and
other manufactured. It's a financially very porous area- a "chaloni" :);
don't have to be a great economist to know these.

Also the funding pattern is faulty. All the current resources like oil are
in the Central Sector and deficit subjects like education, health are in the
state sector. State is broke.

Unless we think big, small inteventions will not give any push, thats for
sure.
