talking of role play (robber as makkhi - fly) I attended a training program at my new job full of role plays - as teacher -student. The trainer told his student not to act like Borat (while acting as a student) - both were Harvard College's Mather house residents. One was a current resident (in first year of college) the other was one of the key members of tutoring company -fastest growing in US.
I learnt many things in role play but the most surprising was when doing Reading Comprehension role play. When a student of mine found a speech on poverty shocking. I was so shocked that I was fighting for words. How can anyone be shocked by an article on poverty. Aren't we in India so used to such articles. Ofcourse, I received appropriate feedback on my temporarily lapse. And I entered a new dimension - how NOT to be carried away by passages when doing SAT prep.
Ofcourse, while teaching I have readymade answers on hand so such problem in real life does not arise. But still unexpected learning leads to enetring a new dimension. I have become more objective after the role play . My Creativity and my student's Reading Comprehension are two separate things -thats a new dimension -a real learning experience for me. I am still using meta-cognition to develop this new habit.
Any comments about habits and learning new ?

It was a Sunday afternoon. Lotkons father was playing cards with his friends. It is his favorite past time. Along with the game they also like to talk about the affairs of the country, about their state, sometime even on world politics. He is the owner of a sweet shop. While he manages the shop , he often asks little Lotkon to sit in shop when he becomes too busy playing and talking with friend.
That they he was playing in the field behind the shop while Lotkon was looking after the sale. Suddenly a masked man appeared. And before Lotkon could figure out the mask man began to eat the sweets.
Hey , what are you doing and who are you , Lotkon shouted.
I am a makhi ( The fly). , he shrugged.
Lotkon hurried to his father shouting.
Deuta , Deuta , a makhi is eating sweets , he screamed.
Lotkons father was about to discuss the latest Prime Ministers proposal on his state. Intercepted , he shouted back My son , a makhi cannot finish the sweets. Now, please go back , I am busy.
Lotkon went to his sit , The masked man must had overheard the conversation. He came bold and began to grab all the sweets.
Lotkon ran again , Deuta , Deuta , makhi is grabbing all the sweets. , he cried.
Lotkons father was irritated , giving him a dirty look , he shoot back Dude , dont you see what am I talking about. Get out from here right now.
Lotkon began to cry . While his father and friends continued to discus and dissect about the latest affair of the state, the masked man emptied the sweet shop. Lotkon cried , cried and cried.
