A few weeks ago, I came across another positive development in Nagaland and the NE.
You must be also aware that roses cultivated in Nagaland have found a market in Dubai.

Naga roses set to capture Dubai market Naga roses set to capture Dubai market
Guwahati, Jan. 29: The Nagaland horticulture department is looking ahead to a rosy future as the first consignment of freshly cut roses and carnations from the state was dispatched to Dubai on Thursday.
This is also the first time that roses from the Northeast have been exported out of the country.
In the past, anthurium from Mizoram and Meghalaya were exported to Dubai and London.
The shipment of roses and carnations also carried anthuriums from East Garo Hills in Meghalaya and Asiatic lilies from Mizoram.
The consignee, Al Lokrit International LLC, is one of the leading importers and wholesalers of fresh cut flowers in the United Arab Emirates and is looking forward to buying anthurium, roses and other cut flowers of international quality from the region.
The shipment of about 3,500 flowers is a prelude to a bigger shipment planned for the first week of February for the Valentines Day market.
The flowers were well received by the buyers, who were satisfied with the quality, especially the bud size, but suggested that a cold room in Guwahati or Calcutta would prevent the flowers from blooming prematurely. The Dutch varieties of roses and carnation are being cultivated by the state horticulture department at its hi-tech production facility in Yisemyong village, about 17-km from Mokokchung town.
The cultivation has been undertaken by the department of agriculture under the Horticulture Technology Mission scheme and is being managed by the state horticulture department through an MoU with Zopar Exports Pvt Ltd, which is providing the technology and is also acting as the exporter.
Sources said the favourable climatic conditions at Yisemyong has enabled the department to produce roses with a head size of more than 5 cm to 6 cm, which is more than the normal size attained by rose cultivators in southern and western India. The cultivators are hoping that the bud size would help them tap the foreign export markets.
The state horticulture department has decided to expand the production of flowers by transferring the technology to farmers in Kohima and Mokokchung districts this year.
The department is hoping that the production would go up to 5,000 to 10,000 flowers per day by the yearend.
Sources hoped that the floriculture market would soon see a complete turnover in the next few years with flowers from the region getting global exposure and acceptance

Friends,
This is positive stuff about Nagaland. There are too many stereotypes existing - it is
refreshing to see reports like this.
