[Assam] Update on Assam 2007

Dear community members,

  The excitement for Assam 2007 is heating up. We are
getting good responses from Assamese community in 
North America and hoping to have great time in Laurel,
Maryland come this summer.

As far as cultural programmes are concerned, we have
invited our very popular singer Zubeen Garg to perform
in Assam 2007 and he accepted our
invitation. We are hopeful that  he will be able
to come to perform in Assam 2007.

Even if Zubeen can not make to the Assam 2007 for any
reason we have very talented people from our community
in North America and we have made a short video clip
on their performances. These people in the video
have confirmed their participation in the cultural
events but not necessarily will perform the same item
as
seen in the video. We encourage and request all of
them to perform, if possible, Assam's or Assamese
culture related items. The video merely shows these
talented people of our community will be entertaining
you all in Assam 2007

We will also have fashion show of Assamese dresses as
we did last year in Assam Convention 2006.

Now even if we plan to have great times in both get-
togethers, we will miss each other, our friends and
elders.

So I still think that it is nothing like doing all of
us together, i.e holding  only one get-together a
year.
