*ULFA Warning ! Does it Hold Water ???*

* It was on Wednesday, January 31, 2007, that I read in 'The Assam
Tribune' the news 'ULFA warns local TV channel over report'. The report says
that the ULFA has warned the NETV Channel of dire consequences if it failed
to prove within a month its report that the militant outfit had taken money
from the government to withdraw its call to boycott the National Games. In
this regard, I would like to remind the ULFA of certain other incidents
where the outfit's "commander-in-chief" Paresh Baruah talked in terms of
time frame but failed to live up to his words. On Nov 24, 1994, the
Principal of Assam Medical College Dr. Hari Prasad Barua was assassinated by
two miscreants. The ULFA said that the culprits would be tracked within 10
days. Nothing done, it has been more than 12 years now. Again, on May 17,
1996, journalist Parag Das was shot dead in broad daylight. The ULFA talked
about tracking the brain behind the killing within a month. Nothing done, it
has been more than 10 years now. *
* As such, the owner of NE TV, i.e., former MP Matang Singh and
his showpiece wife Manoranjana (no pun intended), who poses to be the 'MD'
of the Pvt. TV Channel can doze off very well. Even Matang Singh must be
knowing well that the ULFA is nothing but a 'paper tiger' from his
experience in Coal Mafia in Ledo-Margherita area of Upper Assam.*

*
Yours truly.,*
