[Assam] South Sarania - Spot the difference contest.

Hello C-da,

The before photo was a couple of months earlier than the after photo.

Good scientific observation. But earlier it was impossible to walk
with our shoes on or for the children to walk and to avoid the
cars/scooters/motorcycles splashing the drain water all over our
clothes. I named the water body at that time as the 'South Sarania
river'. A six-inch elevated footpath would only attract the car
drivers to park on the footpath itself, let alone the thelas and
rickshaw pullers.

Pity the poor pedestrian. Some portion of the footpaths are level with
the road, and in some it is slanted at such an angle to make way for
cars to crossover smoothly to parking space of a big shop. My head
spins when I walk through that inclined portion, most times I avoid
it.

What would you think of the picture I took at the Jawahar Lal Nehru
Athletic Stadium where the National Games were held. See the puddles
of rainwater and the dirt. No one cared to sweep it. A small gesture
that would have been for the spectators attending the closing ceremony
of the games.

Want to know what lies beneath the footpaths that also acts as drainage system?
