2 Congmen held for ULFA links

 DULIAJAN, Jan 28 – At a time when Congressmen of upper Asom are resigning
from party en masse under the threat issued by ULFA, the Dibrugarh district
police have arrested two Congressmen for their active involvement with the
banned outfit. According to police sources, Tingkhong Police today arrested
one Mukhesar Dihingia (31), vice-president of Borbam Panchayat Youth
Congress, Rajgarh and Congress party worker Sushil Dutta (30), both of
Dhuapathar-gar, Rajgarh, for having links with the ULFA.

Another person, one Jayanta Gogoi of Digholia, Sasoni, under Naharkatia PS,
was also arrested today for allowing his personal telephone for ULFA's use.

Besides, on January 24, one Rajib Rajkonwar (35) of Balijan TE under
Duliajan PS, was arrested for being an ULFA facilitator, who allegedly
enabled the outfit to acquire more than 100 mobile SIM cards for its cadres
of upper Asom. On January 26, one Sarbeswar Mohan, a VDP member of
Matiakhana under Bordubi PS, was arrested for his involvement with ULFA.

One senior police official of the district told this correspondent that the
arrests proved to be a major success for Dibrugarh district police and that
their interrogation produced many vital information about ULFA's network in
upper Asom. The officer also told that many Congressmen and officials and
distributors of mobile phone companies like Airtel, BSNL, Aircel will be
arrested for issuing SIM cards to the banned ULFA.
