Guwahati, June 10: The United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA) today warned
AUDF President Badruddin Ajmal no to disturb the social fabric of Assam and
stay away from inciting communal feelings in the state.
A caller identifying himself as Commander of ULFA's 28 Battalion Prabal Neog
told a section of media today that Badruddin's dialect also has no affinity
with Assamese language.
The warning came after Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind leader Arshad Madani, AUDF chief
Badruddin Ajmal and three MLAs were taken into preventive custody in Assam's
Nagaon district today while they were on their way to attend a rally even as
police fired to disperse their irate supporters at Doboka.
Ajmal's party is also facing lots of criticism after one of his legislators
Rasul Haque Bahadur made demand for autonomous council for minorities in the
state.
Meanwhile, the outfit also denied any link with ISI. " We are operating from
Bangladesh purely for logistic reasons. Our decisions are totally
independent and no way influenced by ISI or any other organizations,"
pointed out the rebel leader.
The outfit also sent a very strong warning to its former members. Raising
fingers at some of his former colleagues, Neog alleged, " In spite of
several warnings, some of the surrendered people are helping and supporting
the security agencies. Recently, one of them has even helped police to plant
a bomb in Sibsagar, which was ultimately recovered".
He also raised question on the security provided to surrendered ULFA
militant Raja Gogoi and Mridul Phukan who was allegedly involved in the
killing of senior journalist Parag Das.
Commenting on the recent arrest of Dibakar Moran, the ULFA leader said that
he was released from his organizational duties since the last two months. "
Since then he has been working as spy to army's 2nd Mountain division," he
added.
The outfit also denied its hand in the kidnapping of Rajat Agarwalla, a
class VII student of St Joseph School in Sonari.
