[Assam] 12 engg colleges to be opened

Thanks Chitta for the info and situation in Kokrajhar.

That is precisly why, sometimes a well-funded (private) college may actually
do well. While it will be good to get the State and Central govt to invest
in education, it might do well to explore the private funding avenues as
well.

You are correct that there is tendency for many Assamese to go to other
states for education (or even overseas - like us) if they can avail the
opportunity.  But, after many years, now we keep hearing that an increasing
number of Indians are NOT interested in coming to the US/UK to study or
work. It seems many find it more fulfilling to study and work in India
itself. That is a good sign. Hopefully a similar situation happens in Assam
as well.

BTW: Was talking to someone in India - and their take was - with the $
expected to be around Rs. 36/- to a $ for the forseeable future and lower
later, has given Indians a 'psychological' boost and there seems to be a
lot about excitement with the 8 % economic growth for the long run.
