  Respected Sir,

With a big disappointment, I would like to write the following willful wrong propaganda by Indian Coast Guard HQ New Delhi while they proudly named a petrol vessel after our Swaheed Kanaklata of Barangabari. The information in a nutshell given in the following link by the Indian Coast Guard. This is being noticed by me yesterday evening and I did lodged protest to the concerned Coast Guard authority. This indicates that the Govt of India still unaware of Assamese patriots and shows unbility to maintain their data properly.the link and the highlighted para will tell the marvellous mistake done knowingly. While all of us know exactly what had happened that day in Gohpur. The birth date is wrong as well the title Baruah.
As being a hardcore Assamese, a former Air Force officer and a former student leader during Assam agitation from 1975-1982,I humbly request to take the matter with deep concern.Meanwhile I am the 4th son of your old friend , noted freedom fighter Sri Paniram Das of Kalaigaon.Since I failed to digest the wrong publicity about Kanaklata, I wish at your initiative protests will be lodged with Indian Home Ministry as well Indian Coast Guard. We could never bear the ill treatment and negligency to the people and history of mother Assam.

KANAKLATA BARUA (1926-1942) - She was born at Village Borangabari Distt Darrang, Assam on 1926. Her father’s name was Shri Krishna Kant Barua. She was educated upto primary standard. She took part in Quit India Movement in 1942. The group of local leaders planned to hoist the Congress Flag on all police stations in district on 20 Sep 1942. An incident occurred at Gohpur where five thousand people from Choiduar region (250 sq miles) gathered in front of the local police stations to hoist the Congress Flag. A man from the crowd attempted to set the nearby cook’s shade ablaze while some other tried to disarm the constables by trying to snatch away their muskets. In this confused situation, one of the constables without waiting for any order from the officer fired two shots killing a sixteen year old girl. Kanaklata Barua and seriously injuring Mukumdaam Kakoti, who died later, Hemkanta Barua. The way Kanaklata Barua braved the police bullets to hoist the National Flag on the
Guhpur Police Station makes an immortal story of martyrdom for the cause of freedom

And this is what our Govt of Assam link says the truth:-

  Dear Sir,
I would like to place your attention to correct the content about descriptions of various vessels in the website http://www.indiancoastguard.nic.in/Indiancoastguard/history/morehistory.html Special attention is now paid at the description of Veerangana Kanaklata Baruah of Barangabari of Gohpur, whose name has the place alongwith Jhanshi Rani Laxmibai etc in the International history. We all assamese as whole are proud that you named a vessel of fame in her name- which is doing mervellous work.
Ironically the narration is entirely wrong and hope this is again going to hurt the sentiment of Assam.Sorowfully I did noticed it just few minutes ago and requested to corect the descriptions as mentioned in the link below:-

This one is a Govt website. To say about me- I am the 4th son of Noted freedom fighter of Mangaldai(Darrang Dist), Sri Pani Ram Das, who was the hero of Assam history in quit India movement and still alive at 91 yrs of age.Kindly take pain to meet my father like peoples to get the correct information and get in touch with Assam Govt information center. However I am going to place the Indian Coast Guards misleading story to the noted intellectuals and freedom fighters of Assam for necessary protest.
I am deeply hurt as your HQ failed to justify the truth and still treat Assam wrong way. I am unaware who hs supported the Kanaklata Baruah material???
  Regards.
