Thanks Ankur. If Gautam can do a small write-up on Sattriya dance I shall translate it to Dutch to include it. Otherwise I shall wait till I get a chance to check he information. I have some info. But translating info into a certain format needs time.
Met vriendelijke groet,

Gautam da,
Good to read your posting. Placing all these information is a herculean task. It will be great if you can introduce to Wahid da people who may be interested in the area of Satriya Dance.

Dear Gautam,
Thanks for your mail. You are right. When I first published the Indiawijzer (in Dutch) in 1992 it was a small book of 142 pages. I had difficulties obtaining information from India especially from Assam . As I am a layman trying to be jack of all trades, I did not want to put something on paper without going through some published materials. Almost all the artciles covering business, yoga, culture, dance, philosphy etc. published in the Indiawijzer is written by me.
As I could not obtain the necessary information at that time it was not included. The second edition of Indiawijzer was published in 1999. It is a book of 416 pages. During this publication also I had difficultiy in obtaining information. Another problem was the time. The Dutch law demands that before you publish you have to take permission. To give you an idea I wrote more than 3.000 letters to collect information and get permission. With Internet it is now easier to get information. But still you need permission.
The Indiawijzer is the work of one person from collecting information, web-design, programming , maintenance everything is done by me. If needed it is updated almost daily (atleast the Cultural Agenda of Indian programmes in the Netherlands ). At present the website has more than 3.000 webpages and still have to update/add more than 1000 pages. In the coming months I hope to update the chapter on Indian Dance and Music. It is not only the chapter on dance but also chapters on musical instruments, types of vocal music, new artists active in the netherlands etc. have to be included. Thanks for your suggestions.
Greetings,
Wahid da

Dear Wahed da,
I have also gone through the site. I found the list of Indian Classical Dance is not an exhaustive one. Some of the very important classical dance like Manipuri, Kuchipudi,Kathakali is found missing. But missing of our own 'Satriya Dance' from the list is found to be most surprisng as it was recognised only few years back(means it is still very fresh in our minds) after much efforts from all the corners. Pl include all the missing Indian classical dance including Satriya Dance.

Excellent site, Wahid da.
Thanks for sending this comprehensive link page on India .
The site will be useful for many other pieces of information that are close to my heart. Thank you again.
I wish I had knowledge on a foreign language like you do. But Spanish, Mandarin Chinese, French and Japanese are on top of my 'list to learn things'.
I am looking for info on, say, if a bamboo flute, a tabla or a Vina was used for the song, 'Nimura' by Kavita Krishnamurthy.
With regards,
- Alpana.

Dear Alpana,
In my internet site www.indiawijzer.nl I have a section on:
Indian music and dance.
à If click this link it would lead you to the index Indian classical music, dance and musical instruments.
à This link will lead you to the webpages on Indian Classical Music Instruments,
Unfortunately the text is in Dutch as the information of this section is meant for the Dutch school children. But you will get the images and the name of the instrument. Moreover at the start you will get a link to the site of Chandrakant and at end you will get a link to Tarang. These sites are in English.
Greetings,
Wahid da

Hi All:
Could anyone tell me the way to find out what type of musical instruments are used in the Indian movie songs? Is there such a site or a book that lists the instruments used in the musicals, including the classical numbers?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
