BARPETA, Sept 6: Khol — the spiritual rhythm of Asom — the first ever audio album on the khol was released at Barpeta recently. This audio album has been directed by music director Pramathranjan Das, a well-known artiste and a founder of new forms of holy songs and Bhudev Das. Pramathranjan Das released this audio album in the memory of his late father Manoranjan Das, who was an expert khol badak, connected with the Xatriya culture. The audio album was released by Basistha Debsarma. Debsarma praised Pramathrajan for the type of work he has done for the preservation of the Axomiya culture. He urged the new generation to come out and save the tradition and property of Sankardev and Madhabdev. He said that Barpeta is such a place where harinaam can be heard all the time and the bhaktas of Barpeta seem to forget all their agonies, sorrows after assembling at the Kirtan Ghar. He also urged the media to publish more news on the Xatriya culture of Barpeta.
The artistes who have contributed towards this album are Bhudev Das, Pradip Bayan, Hemen Sutradhar and Ranjit Bayan who played the khol, Bhudev Das, Pradip Bayan and Pramathranjan Das who played the taal. Radio artiste Gunindra Nath Ojah also helped in the album becoming a reality.
