Some of you may find this not only interesting, but also give some thought
to the continuous man-elephant conflict in Assam. This conflict is becoming
more intense as the population is growing rapidly, and forest lands are
either being depleted or encroached. The article is a bit old, but still
appropriate.

There are also some great photographs. One particularly caught my attention
(a bit of levity, if you will,  in an otherwise serious situation) - we had
always heard that elephants love moonshine (Lao-pani), but didn't quite
realize that this is more than just a story.  Do they really get drunk? That
would require a whole lot of the stuff, I presume:)
