[Assam] Writing ‘Neogi’, Phukon makes himself unreal. It seems little does he know that the Moamoria revolt was joined and supported by even Princes and nobles of the Ahom Royal household. The revolt was not against any people but against a system.

All the Assam papers have covered the arrest of Prabal Neogi in Tezpur. Now
the differences between the Morans and the Ahoms in the ULFA hierarchy will
come out to the fore. Earlier, the local vernacular papers had reported of
the disillusionment of the Morans with the Ahoms in the group. The Morans
felt that they were being used by the Ahoms as cannon fodder and not being
compensated adequately. Now Prabal Neogi's surrender means that in a way he
has come over ground, more morans may come forward out of the outfit. The
central leadership of the ULFA is mainly Ahoms and they would be loathe to
give up their power and so Morans could face the heat in the organization.
Hope all this infighting within the group will weaken the organization, and
we can see peace in Assam and enjoy life as freely as we used to do before
the militancy started.
