[Assam] Nuisance or Nonsense

>If I say he was no great singer, will it be disrespect towards him?
*** Not at all. It is one person's opinion. Just because I say
something is good won't make it good automatically, unless I can
explain, credibly, why.
Similarly to the contrary.
India hero-worshipping and deification sometimes reaches mindless
proportions, even amongst the highly trained and phoren-nibaxis; a
remnant of a mindset where appearances are good enough to be accepted
as the real thing. I remember taking flak , right here in assamnet
for having the audacity to question exPres Kalam's propaganda and
unscientific touting of riverlinking, while he extolled the virtues
of scientific thinking.
> So, there is no harm in evaluating Late Saikia's contribution
>towards various fields of life
*** I agree. And I would like to think that those who do indeed
contribute constructively, whether with fanfare and publicity or even
quietly and in the background would never take offense with such
examination.
But I will also agree that it won't be a seemly thing to do to
criticize or attack someone right after his demise, while others are
mourning his/her passing.
That is however NOT what Ranju was doing. He merely asked a question
of those who recommended that Saikia's examples be emulated by
Kharkhowa IAS types. And the outpouring of revulsion directed at
Ranju for the transgression is the real sorry spectacle here.
