Know Zoonosis for No Zoonosis on World Zoonoses Day
-       Help build a healthier society
 
World Zoonoses Day 
 
World Zoonoses Day is observed on July 6th every year to emphasize and bring awareness amongst people, and teach them to take right action.
 
Know Zoonosis
 
A Zoonosis is any disease or infection that is naturally transmissible from vertebrate animal to human and human to animal. Examples of most common Zoonotic diseases in India are Rabies, Plague, Bovine Tuberculosis, Anthrax, Brucellosis, Bird flu etc and Rabies is the deadliest one.
 
How it spread??
 
Rabies – especially from infected dog though bite.
Plague – especially from rodents, cats, rabbits etc through bite.
Tuberculosis – through ingestion of contaminated milk of infected cow and through infected human to a healthy animal.
Anthrax – from infected cattle and buffaloes through contamination of soil, water, utensils etc
Brucellosis – from infected cattle and buffaloes through contamination & direct contact.
 
Is it a Human Health Hazard??
 
Rabies Control Society surveyed that almost 30,000 people in India and more than 50,000 people all over the world loose their lives every year due to zoonotic diseases like rabies and Bovine Tuberculosis. 


How you can help for No Zoonosis!!
 

Always take preventive measures like periodic vaccination of your pet and other domesticated animals against infectious diseases.
Volunteer to be a member of animal welfare organization and take initiatives to bring dogs of the neighbors for vaccination.
Inform your local civil authority or animal welfare organization regarding any out break of zoonotic disease like rabies or sudden increase of stray and street animals in your locality.
Adopt hygiene and sanitation in handling your pet and other domesticated animals.
Always follow advice of professional veterinarians.
 
How you can help JBF(INDIA) for No Zoonosis at low cost!!
 
·       Volunteer for JBF(INDIA) and take initiatives to bring Homeless & Homed dogs of your neighborhood & locality to JBF Animal Relief Centre for Vaccination & Sterilization.

Also you could be a member of JBF(INDIA) and Participate & Co-operate with different programs.
Strengthen hands of JBF(INDIA) by donation or other means to carryout its activities smoothly.

JBF(INDIA) is organizing Awareness Campaign on the occasion of World Zoonoses Day on the premises of JBF Animal Relief Centre at 4, Chandan Nagar, Survey, Beltola, Guwahati, Assam on Sunday, the 6th July 2008.  
 
On this occasion, JBF(INDIA)  is organizing the following events…
 
·         Distribution of Leaflets on Zoonotic Diseases at different points in Guwahati City
·         Free Anti-Rabies Vaccination at JBF Animal Relief Centre premises. 
·         Special Birth Control Drive for Homeless & Homed Local Dogs JBF Animal Relief Centre premises.
