Why not to stop eating Indian holy animal COW??? Dog is not, never worshipped even he took the Pundabs to the heaven.
None cries for the cow as it will hurt some other religion.In this case dog could be very wel be eaten as its production is faster than cow.
What about ploughing in the fields/bullock carts used by the poor villagers?Not cruelty?Will Ambika Shukla or Maneka Gandhi provide FREE tractors to them with life long free maintenance??
In kerala even Hindu mallus to eat beef.Who stops it? In Karnataka the Gowda comunity prefer beef with drinks...then??
So here is the big question of what I said in practical.Only stopping dog meat will never solve the isue.Why PFA is only for Dogs???
WHAT AMBIKA WAS DOING IN THE JNU, she being married and with family?? Is she suposed to be there?? Law will ask lot.Is she involved with some UNFAIR practice there and wanted to cover up the whole things by projecting the dog issue??
I would love to say in this point that dog is also a good animal for secret pleasure.As a army wife she will know better..So are the love for dogs.Right??

I do agree with most of your bullet points except the last statement.
 I would like to modify it as " Why a tiny community of Indians in the 
Northeast  eats dog meat"?.

I  personally find it disgusting to read about Kali's fatal end at JNU .  I

have no reason to disbelieve the account which has been very well presented. 
We mustn't defend it just because we belong to the Northeast. It is
shameful 
for all of us from the Northeast  that the practice of eating dogs is still 
prevalent. I would personally like to see this practice of eating dogs 
stopped by law if possible as they are such lovely family friends. Perhaps, 
that will open a can of worms!
