I saw Nagas in a different light'40>,53--hardworking,word-keeping.Had Boys/girls in Namti High School 1949>'51. We grew up in shadow of these Hills. Mangaldai was far off.
Had a NAGA ROOMMATE AT IIT'54. Met Mr/Mrs Jamir atLate KP Tripathy's MP flat in 1955 -now Maharastra Gov'nr.Fine patron.
War,disease, Indian Rupee, Nehru-age Regrouping devastated them.
The do not work any more. Go for Indian degrees- create a new idle class. All resources are there. They do not know how to begin from there--because India does not want the-- only their land--to feel good!!> Date: Mon, 21 Jul 2008 23:25:55 +0530> From: biku006 at yahoo.co.in> To: assam at assamnet.org> Subject: Re: [Assam] A touch of history> > > Ram Sarangapani dada,> Nice quoted.sorowfully assam is full of writers, but none seems to take note of colecting beautifull live stories from the vilages or old generations. Here we kharkhowa lack behind.> My father used to tell why British never tried to go to Naga hills. While they did gone to Manipur,Khasi and Jaintia hills easily. Its only that Naga were barbaric, they used to pas urine and stool from the hill top over the white sahabs. And once they hapen to capture- their heads(skull) will be garland and body will be served to the society. It was, so they never thought of capturing the region.History really say worth of it.> > Bikash> > > > > > Bring your gang together.
