Charity Walk on 9th of March 2008 at Guwahati

Education is the birth right of every child. Unfortunately a large number of children in the North East India are being deprived of basic education due to poverty. A large number of children are spending their days on the streets or doing hard labour to earn their daily bread. For any meaningful development of the North East India, we must be able to provide basic education at the lowest level. Friends of Assam and Seven Sisters (FASS) realize this as a serious problem of North East India.

In a bid to create public awareness to this burning problem and for promotion of basic education for the underprivileged children of the North East India, Friends of Assam and Seven Sisters (FASS is organizing a Charity Walk on 9th of March 2008 at Guwahati. The proposed Walk will start from Digholi Pukhuri, Guwahati at 9 AM in the morning and will end at the Kasturba Gandhi Ashram, Ulubari, Guwahati. The Walk will be led by a visiting Gandhian, Mr.Garvin Brown from Queensland, Australia. Mr. Brown is a devout Gandhian and runs an organization called "Mahatma Gandhi Awareness Center" at Queensland, Australia. He is coming to Guwahati just to participate in the Walk and help us help the underprivileged children. We have earmarked the fortnight, starting from 5th March to 20th March for raising of funds for the cause. If you are in Guwahati, you are all invited to join us in the Walk.
