[Assam] cbi probe

C'da,

I too don't have that much confidence that the CBI will be able to do a
great job.
But I do think it is the right step. At the very least, such a probe will
put the condition of rhinos in focus. Every international wildlife assoc.
and funding authority will also be looking for results from the probe.
Isn't that much BETTER than not doing a darn thing, and crying hoarse from
the galleries. :)

My question is this, if this inept CBI did NOT take up the probe, then
everyone and his uncle would have been yelling that the GOI/CBI just don't
care, wouldn't they?

>The only problem is that IF they did NOT hold the ULTIMATE powers,

Unfortunately, in this particular case, the killing and poaching of rhinos
is a "State issue". People may argue that since Kaziranga, being a 'national
preserve', Assam does not have any responsibility or role to play to
maintain its sanctity.
Assam Forest officials control and maintain it.

Ok - so even that kind of record, why are we still approaching them? It may
be because one more item could be added - "Kaziranga Rhino killing scam" in
future years?

And why is it impossible to separate issues? Maybe, just maybe this probe
will succeed.

But, what do you suggest, C'da?
(a) No Probe by CBI?
(b) Yes, there must be a CBI Probe - then we can handicap them from the get
go.
(c) Do nothing - let the rhinos get killed, but we can still go with the
same old blame-game
(d) Something else - which nobody has a clue about.
