[Assam] Talks

There is a new initiative to bring ULFA and the GOI to peace- talks. Well-known persons like Hare Krishna Deka, Hiren Gohain, Hiranya Bhattacharyya, Mamoni Raisom Goswami, Nirmal Choudhury, Lachit Bordoloi et al are part of the effort. Elders of Naga Ho Ho have been playing a sobering role when the talks between the government and the insurgents of Nagaland tend to break down. Time will tell whether the above said eminent persons from Assamese society would be able to act as a cohesive group to lend such influence in facilitating the talks. In fact, if ealier history is any indicator, it would be quite trying for all these bright citizens to stick together, because, each one of them has strong individual opinion and whether each can surrender one's individual opinion to a common purpose and speak in unision shall be tested in the days to come.
