It is a nice read , what I liked most
 
1. You have personalized the story , the description when your friend was struggling driving in the rain while the kids ( and the better half ) singing and playing gleefully at the back ...nice ! I could relate that very well.
2. And the footbal match ! No one can escape from the audio / video media , the best way is to blend it to your surroundings , your description is superb.

I would have liked more 
to read about the Forest guards , Fishermen ..They are the lifeline of the forest ; You did mention; however I wish there was a little more elaboration including one or two stories or a conversation with them

Are you writing a sequel to this one ?
