DadaSaheb Phalke Award updated list 2022 pdf

The Dadasaheb Phalke award is the highest Award in the Indian Cinema industry. This Award is given for Outstanding contribution to the growth and development of the Indian cinema industry. Under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Directorate of Film Festivals annually organizes the “National Film Awards.” The winner of the DadaSaheb Phalke Award gets “Swarna Kamal (Golden Lotus) Shawl and ₹1,000,000 (US$13,000)”. In 1969, the Award was first introduced by the Indian government to recognize the contributions of Dhundiraj Govind Phalke to the Indian film industry. Dhundiraj is also known as “the father of Indian cinema.” he directed Raja Harishchandra (1913), India’s first full-length feature film.  

First Dadasaheb Phalke Award Winner

Devika Rani is the first who got this honor Dadasaheb Phalke award for her fabulous acting in the india film industry. She is known as “the first lady of Indian cinema.” Her debut film was Karma (1933), the first Indian film to introduce a live on-screen kiss. She married Himanshu Rai, an Indian film producer, in 1934; they established “Bombay Talkies,” the first Indian public limited film company. She was also honored with the Padma Shri (1958) and the Soviet Land Nehru Award (1990).

During covid-19 pandemic 2020 and 2021 National Film Awards were postponed. President of India Droupadi Murmu met Anurag Thakur, minister of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, to arrange the 68th national film awards. On 30 September 2022, Veteran actress Asha Parekh was honored with the Dadasahed Phalke award 2020. Asha Parekh won the highest Award in the film industry for her acting and contribution to Indian cinema. In 1992 Indian government honored Asha Parekh with the Padma Shri award for her contribution to the industry.
